Wow, just WOW!
This is the story of Melody and Blake.
Blake is the jack of all trades. Police Officer by day and Contract Killer by night. He's extremely smart with technology and has done what he's needed to in order to live and support his younger brother Ryan.
Growing up, times were hard, with a sucky mom and a dad nowhere in the picture, Step-dad is anything but the father they wanted or needed. When young Blake walks into something, it changes his life forever, making him become the man he is today. He doesn't feel, he doesn't care, just does work and continues through the motions.
Melody is the opposite of Blake, she grew up with loving parents who even though they had enough money for do whatever they want, they still lived life simple. They were a close-knit family and were always there for one another.
At college, Melody is attending and wanting to do something different than the path her mom wants her to take. It's in class that she meets Ryan, the mysterious guy who dresses in black and keeps to himself. He doesn't talk or waste his time in mindless conversations with people who don't matter. When Melody is in need, Ryan steps in and becomes her partner for a project.
Unfortunately, things don't always happen the way they are supposed to. Melody needs to leave class early to head home for a family dinner. Running out of the building, she runs right into a stone wall, except it isn't a stone wall, it's Blake. He makes a comment about her being clumsy, she snaps at him, pissed off he didn't even offer to help her up. She's feisty, but he ignores her and continues on his way.
Upon arriving home, Melody is met with the worst nightmare of her life. Entering her house, she knows something's off, but enters anyway. Seeing the devastation, she's unsure of what to do when she comes into contact with the intruder. Being the feisty girl that she is, she doesn't give in though she's truly terrified, but the intruder didn't kill her...but Why?
Weeks later she goes back to school, needing to deal with anything other than what awaits at home, though it's no longer home to her now.
Ryan can tell something's off when she returns to school, but doesn't push, he hates when people push for information from him, so instead he becomes the friend she needs.
One night when Melody gets wasted, Ryan and Sean, another one of her friends, goes back to Ryan's place, when she wakes, she met with the person she thought she wouldn't have to see again, but there he is in all his sexiness...Blake.
The girl he can't seem to get out of his head is in his house, with his brother, how does that happen?
When people you think are your family, your friends, your boyfriend, show their true colors, what will Melody do? Can she forgive and forget or hope the end is to come soon for her?
This story is absolutely incredible. It has so many twists and turns, I read it in 1 day, putting it down was not an option.
Can Blake be changed because of his feelings for Melody, or will he always be the guy he was, the guy who doesn't care and has no empathy?
An absolute must read!!!!!
